#travel #food #foodie Daughter's Thai Kitchen in Oakland, California. Admittedly, the beautiful outdoors with purple flowers may have pulled me in. But then I checked the menu and NEW we had to try it. I would 1000% order everything again. That Branzino was bomb and so crispy with a spicy tamarind broth and my husband's Yum Neua was garlicky, tender steak! One thing that I didn't love was our waitress saw us struggling with the fish, moreso 'cause of the dish it was presented in and came over and "helped" us get all the meat off the bone - which my husband that was fantastic and 5-star service. But, I was pretty pissed because I ordered CRISPY Branzino and by mixing it with the juices, she basically took away the crispiness. Next time, I would ask if that's what a customer wants. She went so fast there was no time to stop her. #food #foodie #dessert Plaintains con Leche - a hidden menu item at Fogo de Chao - nationwide locations. I know, I KNOW! Who posts about bananas at an ALL YOU CAN EAT MEAT place! Truth is, I never have videos of the steak, 'cause i'm too busy enjoying the food come at me nice and hot. But the plantains con leche are a HIDDEN MENU item and are FREE! The craziest part about them is at one point they took them off the menu and you kinda had to order them under the table, I'm not sure why, 'cause I honestly would pay for them. I like that it's just enough of a dessert without ordering another item. I know by their reactions they haven't witnessed the power of her live. If you Google Kellyoke and go down that rabbit hole, you can't tell me she's a fantastic vocalist - often her covers are better than the originals. And the notes that she hits LIVE are really something to be witnessed. But for me, it was always so much more. Kelly never cared to be famous and it's why she's so down-to-earth despite being in the lime light for 20 years. She often highlights her background singers and gives them their own spotlight. Her positivity and drive to just be a good person lended to her being such a fantastic role model along with her strong kick a** woman attitude 💪🏽 Most importantly, she was a celebrity that gained weight after she became famous and she went head-to-head with her critics and quite frankly, didn't care and showed despite trying to eat "healthy", being "skinny" wasnt in the cards for her (esp. with an autoimmune disorder). As someone that always struggled with body image, having someone like Kelly be "famous" was always so admirable. Thanks for the memories, being an amazing role model and for bringing an absolutely fantastic group of girls together to see you, Queen Kelly. Kelly always points out the magic and power of music in it's ability to touch people you've never met (although I still hope one day I'll be able to meet you).
