Sleeping Aids to Pack On Your Next Trip

We have tried our fair share of sleep aids - especially when you're trying to get over your jetlag! NOTE: Check with your physician before taking these, these are recommendations not to be taken in lieu of medical advice

A quick list of our recommendations are here. Click on each link for a detailed description (below) or just go directly to our Amazon list here

This has been my favorite product - I buy from my Naturopath but that brand is not available on Amazon. It was recommended to me by my naturopath and she said that it is non-habit forming. It is an amino acid. Please note, I am not giving medical advice, just sharing what has worked for me!

Calm is more commonly known for their powder and this form is more readily available. I saw it at Costco the other day and they have it at Sprouts as well, maybe even some grocery stores! I have only found the capsule form on Amazon and I LOVE THEM. They are perfect to pack for traveling and to even keep at your bed side. Word of warning: Calm powder is made of magnesium citrate which can cause diarrhea in some people (for some people it doesn't effect them at all). For traveling, we love these pill pouches

BENADRYL

Always a good go-to to have on hand - aside from the fact that my allergies are usually crazy on vacation, extra bonus that it helps you sleep! Fun fact: wine is a histamine, so taking Benadryl (an antihistamine) after a night of drinking wine can prevent hangovers. Again, please note these are recommendations and must not be construed for medical advice. For traveling, we love these pill pouches

I like that ZzzQuil has these pills, again for ease of packing or something to keep on your night stand!

MELATONIN

I have found melatonin at several grocery stores, but for sure at Sprouts or Amazon. I like these fast dissolve ones since you don't need water with them. For traveling, we love these pill pouches The only thing with melatonin is that we both felt that our bodies got used to it after awhile and over time lost it's effect

SLEEPY TEA

Both of us relied on these for quite awhile. Sprouts has the same version as Amazon and Trader Joe's has their own version that worked just as well. Same as the melatonin though, we both felt that after awhile they just lost it's effect.
