A Gorgeous Family-Friendly Outdoor Activity to add to your Big Island, Hawaii Plans
The Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve Garden is budget-friendly and offers some pretty amazing views. I was not expecting what this would look like but it is TRULY rewarding with views of waterfalls, the ocean and one of the most breathtaking gardens I've ever seen. It is a relatively easy/hike depending on your mobility level.

WHAT YOU SEE INSIDE THE GARDENS
There is just a beautiful landscape with a waterfalls, streams, trees, plants, and flowers. So along with that you may see lizards, butterflies, birds, and crabs along your route. There is a view of the ocean with benches to sit and enjoy the view.
ACTIVITY LEVEL
This is can be considered a hike, depending on your mobility level. The ramp INTO and OUT of the garden is quite steep (there is a railing and some spots to stay to the side and sit) but it would be difficult for those with mobility or balance issues along with some steps inside the garden. I took photos of the ramp, but it's tough to see from the photos, but it is a significant incline/decline. There are spots that wheelchairs would not be able to access because of the stairs. There are benches and places to sit throughout the garden.
BATHROOMS
Bathroom stalls are located at the main entrance with 2 stalls, water, toilet paper, soap and a hand dryer. While inside the garden we found one spot for bathrooms that was a hut with a toilet, toilet paper and water, but definitely still in the middle of the garden so there may be bugs and lizards among you
BIRD AVIARY
Is no longer here. It has been relocated out of the Bioreserve.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
We made our way to Hilo afterwards for a delicious lunch at Cafe Pesto. Akaka Falls State Park is also nearby which we enjoyed after our Zipline tour over Kolekole Falls
